Ghost Stories (2015)

DESCRIPTION
In an intimate, dim, sometimes pitch black space, three performers tell a series of nested stories that burrow into a place between belief and non-belief. An invitation to sit in the dark, to encounter the unknown, to connect with those we’ve lost.

Wonderful…Jerry Lieblich nests his spooky narratives like Russian dolls, deftly enfolding us in the show's origami structure till we're sure the dead are all around us. He and director Stefanie Abel Horowitz make the evening sensually rich—their clever production demonstrates that adding light to a room doesn't necessarily make it less frightening…This is why we go to thrillers: to feel competent hands giving our fearful hearts just…a tiny…squeeze.

It soothed aches and pains and brought a sense of peace, a sense of loss to my bones. I left the show feeling taller and well-rested and more expansive than when I came. And all because of a few simple, intricate, and moving stories told in low light…The theater became one of the mind and the senses rather than spacial reality. The timbres of the voice moved through space farther than any body or object, the sounds of the words stood there, fat with presence, in the space where my eyes were focused…It was as though I had been given permission to find a ghost within myself.”
